Innovative Solutions at MetroConnects and Beyond
It is World Water Week 2023 in Stockholm! Every year since 1991, scientists, environmentalists, and policymakers gather during the last week of August to tackle the world’s most pressing water-related challenges. This year’s theme, “Seeds of Change: Innovative Solutions for a Water Wise World,” resonates with our mission here at MetroConnects to provide innovative, sustainable wastewater solutions to protect our community, the environment, and public health. World Water Week is an opportunity to remind ourselves and the community of that mission. We would like to celebrate the work we do every day with our state-of-the-art technology, from SL-RAT maintenance to smoke testing to check for leaks, while also looking ahead to the future so we can stay on top of the latest innovations in global clean water management.

WASH: Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
One key panel at this year’s conference is “WASH: Where Does it Fit in Urban Planning?” which takes place Wednesday at 8 a.m. WASH, which stands for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, is most often thought of as a problem to tackle in developing areas, where access to clean water can be limited. But in urban settings — especially growing ones like Greenville County — protecting clean water for sanitation and hygiene is equally important, and necessary for good urban design. MetroConnects will be watching the developments at World Water Week with great interest! While the panels are geared toward scientists, engineers and change-makers, we can all learn from the conversation. And, like the past few years, many of the panels will be available to watch online. Visit World Water Week to register and keep updated on the latest developments.
