SEWER SERVICE FEE APPEAL PROCESS
It is always your right as a customer to question your fee. Any customer who has a question or a complaint, or who disputes all or part of the fee billed, should contact Metro by telephone at 864.277.4442. Any user wishing to appeal their sewer service fee shall do so in writing prior to March 30 of the current tax year.
Procedure for consideration of appeals:
Customers appealing their sewer service fee must submit the following information in writing:
- A letter stating the reason you are requesting an adjustment in the sewer service fee.
- A copy of the current year tax bill.
- A copy of your paid tax receipt for the above tax bill.
- If your property is not residential, also include copies of your water bills for the past 12 months.

Deadline: Appeals for the current tax year must be received by March 30, 2019.
The general manager or the general manager’s designee shall review the appeal and inform the user in writing of the decision within 30 days of receipt of the written appeal.
If the problem remains unresolved after a written decision from the general manager, the user has 30 days from the receipt of the decision to request in writing a further review by the MetroConnects Commission.
The commission will review the appeal and send its decision to the user in writing within 15 days following the next regularly scheduled monthly meeting. If the general manager or the commission approves an adjustment in the sewer service fee for your property, MetroConnects will adjust the fee and refund the difference of the amount already paid and the adjusted fee. The sewer service fee will be changed in the sewer service fee database.
